1. What These Guidelines Are

  1. These Content Guidelines apply to the characters you create in Puffie (name, avatar, bio, persona, greeting, example dialogues and tags) and to the content of your conversations with characters.
  2. These Guidelines form part of the Terms of Use. Public characters are reviewed against these Guidelines before they are published; private characters and conversation content are equally subject to these Guidelines.
  3. Our moderation standards are consistent with these Guidelines and are also reflected in the global behavior rules for characters.

2. Basic Principles

  • Puffie is intended for users aged 17 and older, but it is not an adult-oriented platform.
  • Characters can have distinctive personalities, emotions and stories, but they must not become vehicles for spreading harmful content.
  • Creators are responsible for the characters they create. Public characters will be used by other users, so please design them with that in mind.

3. Prohibited Content

The following content is not allowed, whether it appears in character information or in conversations:

  1. Adult content: Pornography, explicit sexual descriptions, and character settings or interactions intended for sexual purposes.
  2. Sexualized content involving minors: Zero tolerance, in any form and to any degree; such content will be reported in accordance with the law.
  3. Hate and discrimination: Hate speech or discriminatory character settings based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability or similar characteristics.
  4. Violence and harm: Glorifying, encouraging or giving detailed instructions for violence, terrorism or abuse; encouraging or giving instructions for self-harm, suicide or eating disorders.
  5. Illegal activities: Giving instructions for making weapons, drugs or malware, or assisting with fraud, money laundering or other illegal acts.
  6. Impersonation: Impersonating real individuals (including public figures), organizations or brands, or using another person's name, likeness, trademark or copyrighted characters without authorization.
  7. Malicious circumvention: Settings that use "jailbreak", "unrestricted mode" or similar as a selling point, or that in any way induce characters to bypass safety policies.
  8. Privacy violations: Disclosing other people's personal information, or characters designed to collect users' personal information.

4. Topics Requiring Care

The following topics are allowed, but the character information must meet the corresponding requirements, and these topics will receive close attention during review:

Topic Requirements
Mental health companionship, emotional support Must not claim to be a counselor or doctor; must state "not professional advice" in the bio; must guide users to seek real-world help when there is a risk of self-harm
Medical, legal, financial May provide general information only; must not give specific diagnoses, prescriptions or investment advice
Horror, thriller, suspense May build atmosphere; must not include gory details or glorify violence
Historical and real-world events Must not distort major historical events or glorify perpetrators
Romance, intimate relationships Romantic and emotional expression is allowed; must not move into sexual content; must not encourage excessive dependence by presenting the character as a "partner substitute"
Parodies of real people Must be clearly labeled as fiction or parody; must not be used to mislead or defame

5. Character Information Requirements

  1. Name: Must not contain insulting or discriminatory terms, and must not impersonate real people or brands.
  2. Avatar: Must be an image you have the right to use; must not contain explicit or gory content; must not use photos of real people (other than yourself).
  3. Bio: Must describe the character accurately and must not use misleading promotion (such as "unrestricted" or "can talk about anything").
  4. Persona and example dialogues: Must not contain any of the content listed in Section 3; example dialogues should show the character's normal interactions within these boundaries.
  5. Tags: Must match the character's actual content; popular tags must not be misused.
  6. Language: Character information should use clear language that can be reviewed, and must not use coded language or secret signals to evade moderation.

6. Review Process for Public Characters

  1. After you set a character to "Public", it enters a pending-review state and is visible only to you.
  2. We first conduct automated review; low-risk characters are approved automatically, and the rest are reviewed by our staff.
  3. Review is usually completed within 【24 hours】. You will be notified of the result in the app; if the character is not approved, we will explain why.
  4. If an approved character is later modified, the modified information must be reviewed again.
  5. If a published character receives reports or triggers safety policies, it may be temporarily removed pending review.

7. Enforcement Measures and Appeals

  1. Characters that violate these Guidelines may be rejected for publication, required to be modified, removed or deleted; creators who commit serious or repeated violations may have their accounts restricted or terminated.
  2. Content in conversations that triggers safety policies may be withdrawn, and the related accounts may be warned or restricted.
  3. If you believe an enforcement action was made in error, you can tap "Appeal" in the in-app notification, or contact us at [email protected]. We will review and respond within 【5 business days】.

8. Reporting

  1. Any user can report a character or a message: from the top-right corner of the character details page, or by long-pressing a message and selecting "Report".
  2. Please state the reason for your report truthfully. Malicious reports may affect your own account.
  3. We will review reports, but we will not disclose to the reporter any information other than the details of the action taken.

9. Updates to These Guidelines

We will update these Guidelines in light of laws and regulations, platform policies and community feedback. Updated Guidelines will be published on this page with an updated version number. Creators will be notified in the app of material updates.
